Description from Goodreads.com:
Best friends Rachel and Kendra are well past ready for things to go back to normal … or as normal as it can get for a demon hunter and a half-mermaid. College is supposed to be about study sessions and sneaking beer, not fighting monsters, right? But when girls on campus start disappearing, Rachel, Kendra and fellow demon hunter/annoyance extraordinaire Sid begin investigating. The closer they get to the truth, the more they realize there’s something hiding in the Georgia mountains that is much older and deadlier than your everyday demon. Forget studying for finals, these three will need to fight just to survive.

Review:
Creature Discomforts is another book that I had to jump at the chance to read a review copy. Jenny Peterson's short story for Rachel the demon hunter is very interesting and I had to learn more about the characters. I thought this was a really good addition to the story line. I found out a lot more about what it is like to be a demon hunter and the toll that it really takes on a person. I thought it was really cool that there was more talk and explanation for the Corpus (the demon encyclopedia).
Another thing I really enjoyed was getting deeper into Rachel's head. I felt like there was a really good connection forming between the character and reader by the time it ended, so of course I wish it was longer. The only complaint that I really had with Creature Discomforts is that there wasn't a ton of character development. There was some, but it was pretty slow moving. I wanted to know more about Rachel and Sid, and I wanted to learn more about Kendra and her knew abilities. The story line was awesome and I loved all the demon hunting that took place, but I just wish there was more "inside the characters" as well.
Other than that minor flaw I think the story was really interesting. I loved trying to figure out the mystery of the missing girls and I liked that this story is really a foreshadowing for the next installment on these characters. Everything really pointed to something big happening in the next short story, so I really cant wait to read it!
Overall:
Really good story! I liked that there was some repeating of things that were told to us in previous installments so that it was like a refresher or I might have gotten lost while reading. I think the story line was really well done and very interesting, but I do wish there was more character development. I think this installment was really a time for the author to use it as a moment to foreshadow what is going to happen in the next installment, because I think something big is going to happen, both with the story line and the characters.
