Question of the Moment 109

Has there ever been a time where a cover was a little misleading to the story inside? Did you ever feel one way, because of the cover and description, but then once you actually read it found it was completely different from what you expected?

This has definitely happened to me and pretty recently. I have been dying to read Death and the Girl Next Door by Darynda Jones for the longest time and I have finally gotten my hands on an ARC to review. The thing is that yes the description matches up the story, but the cover not so much. The models on the cover do match the descriptions of the characters, but for Lorelei the cover model seems to mature. She looks too old to be her and too confident. Lorelei is your typical high school sophomore. She is a little conscious and kinds of blends with her peers. The girl on the cover definitely wouldn't blend. I expected Lorelei to either be popular or a senior in high school with the way the cover describes her. I mean look at that girl! Does she look like she gets bullied or is shy in any way? NO. I was not at all displeased with finding out the true Lorelei, but it was still deceiving. I do like the real Lorelei better than the cover model so don't let it deter you from reading, because it is an amazing novel!
