Question of the Moment 93

Have you read a re-telling without ever reading/watching the original? Did you feel confused? Did you love it? Did it make you want to go back and re-watch/re-read/watch for the first time/read for the first time the original?

I am sure I have read a re-telling not knowing it was re-telling without watching and/or reading the original, but what inspired me to ask these questions is the fact that I just finished reading Tris & Izzie. Tris & Izzie is a re-telling of the story Tristan and Isolde. I watched the re-make of it that came out like 4 years ago...about four years ago (lol). I remember bits in pieces of it, but for the most part I remember it just being a love story. Well I thought that would be a good enough gist to read the Tris & Izzie YA re-telling, but I guess not. Everything that happens in the re-telling I do not remember AT ALL from the movie. Sure, the movie could have been completely wrong, the book could have been completely wrong, or who knows, because I haven't read/watched the original. But now I want to go back and re-watch the movie I did 4 years ago because I feel nuts. I do not remember there being magic and giants and serpents and etc., So strange. Has this ever happened to any of you?

Have you ever read/watched a re-telling and became completely confused by it? Let me know in the comments below =]
