Book Blogger Love-A-Thon Mini Challenge #5 - Letter To Yourself

Dear Past Self,

This book blogging idea is going to become the best thing you have ever done for yourself. You are going to have so much fun creating the look and feel of your blog and you are going to have so much fun writing posts. You will meet so many amazing people through this blog, too. You will meet other bloggers who will become close friends, readers of your blog who share the same tastes, and most importantly authors. Some of these authors will help change the rest of your life. You will learn that there are people behind these books you review and to always keep them in mind when you are about to criticize their work. Most importantly one of these amazing authors will help you decide your major in college and help you realize what you want to do with the rest of your life. It will be an idea you never even thought possible and you will get so excited to finally figure out that you can have a dream job in the book industry.

There are two downfalls to having this blog, though. The first is that it is going to take up a lot of your time, but don't worry your soon to be fiance (yes, he is going to ask you to marry him) will understand and be super supportive of this blog. The second is that there are going to be a lot of books coming your way. You may wonder how that could ever be a bad thing, but when you say yes to everything you will get overwhelmed and there is no way to read all of them. Don't let that happen. Choose carefully what books you are willing to accept for review. If it is a book that sounds like you will absolutely love it, accept it. If it just sounds ok, though, offer to do a book spotlight on the blog instead and put the book on your amazon wishlist to buy and read on your own time.

This blog is going to be amazing. You won't regret a second of it. Have fun and prepare to be part of the best community out there.

Love,
You

  1. Your second bit of advice to yourself is definitely something I struggled with in the past. Once authors started asking me to read their books, I was just so excited about them having asked, that I said yes without thinking about time constraints and whether or not I would actually even enjoy the book! It's easy to get caught up in the excitement, so I like your advice of choosing carefully :)

  3. I definitely agree with the whole # of books thing. Who would have ever thought that we would say we have too many books? But we do. And I need to be better about accepting review books this year and not getting click happy on Edelweiss and NetGalley. I want more time to read what I want to read and not be so stressed out about all these review copies!
