Follow Friday #27

This Weeks Follow Friday Question:
Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

I would say yes, to a certain extent. I don't usually stray from the YA genre, but I do change sub-genre's in YA. Like when I am feeling depressed I like to read a paranormal and when I am feeling really happy and in a good mood I like to read a YA  romance. I am always starting a new book so I haven't really had time to just sit and think what do I want to read today since I am always grabbing something from my review list to read and review in a timely manner, but I would say that there are definitely times when I am not feeling a book not because of its writing, but because of my own mood and have to stop reading it and take a little break from it.

  2. I agree- sometimes I need to take a break from a book because, for whatever reason, my mood is affecting my enjoyment. I'm a new GFC follower :)

  4. Hopping through. I read YA as well as adult although I don't htink my mood determines which one I read - it's more which book is around.

I hardly stray from YA as well, but the sub-genres I read aren't really dictated by my mood.

For me I find my mood changes the genre that I want to read. I go through blocks where I only read one genre, then I randomly change to another one. But I don't find myself reading certain books because of the way I feel. Although I do find that the way I feel has an impact on how much I enjoy the book! So if I'm angry or sad I try and take a break from reading till I get over it :)
