BBReview: "Graffiti Moon" By Cath Crowley

Genre: Young Adult - Contemporary
Publishing Date: August 1st, 2010
Page Count: 264
Source: NetGalley
Format: E-Book

Description from Goodreads.com:
"Let me make it in time. Let me meet Shadow. The guy who paints in the dark. Pains birds trapped on brick walls and people lost in ghost forests. Paints guys with grass growing from their hearts and girls with buzzing lawn mowers."

It's the end of Year 12. Lucy's looking for Shadow, the graffiti artist everyone talks about.

His work is all over the city, but he is nowhere.

Ed, the last guy she wants to see at the moment, says he knows where to find him. He takes Lucy on an all-night search to places where Shadow's thoughts about heartbreak and escape echo around the city walls.

But the one thing Lucy can't see is the one thing that's right before her eyes.

Review:
Graffiti Moon is such a cute story! I will admit that it is pretty predictable especially since it's told in two perspectives, but the ride it takes you on is still very much enjoyable. One thing that I do think would have made this novel better would be if they included illustrations along the way with Shadows artwork, because it sounded amazing. I would have loved to see them besides what I thought they looked like just in my own head.

I always enjoy when a novel is told in two perspectives and that still rings true with Graffiti Moon. It does make things a little predictable, but I love it. I think it is great when we can see the true/whole story told from both points of view. I also think that the pace that the story is told in is perfect. It's not too fast and isn't too slow and it also isn't insta-love. Well, it's kind of insta-love, but not really. I think its kind of a insta-like. They don't want to like each other AT ALL, but they grow to like each other better. I couldn't find anything wrong with this love, it was a great contemporary. Honestly, I like something a little more than just romance or coming of age, I like paranormal, so this novel wasn't a complete love. But, I did enjoy it very much.

Overall:
I really liked this novel. It was a really nice contemporary with an art theme and a cute romance. It is a little predictable since it is told from two points of view, but it was great. I liked the pace of the story. It really felt to be told in real time. Although I really liked Graffiti Moon I really like something with a little more edge so I didn't completely fall head over heels for it. I do also wish Cath would have included illustrations of shadows work through out the novel. I recommend this to those who love contemporaries or want a nice cute story to read their troubles away.
